About the firm
The name is literal.
General Internet Group LLC was established in 2012, but the work started long before that. Our founder built Utah’s statewide education internet in the early 1990s — networking, email, DNS, and some of the first web servers in the state — back when “the internet” still needed explaining in meetings.
Thirty years later, the firm does what its name says: makes the internet work for business. We operate our own ventures, and we consult for organizations that need cloud, data, AI, and web decisions made with technical depth, business sense, and — where it matters — regulatory rigor.
§ 01 · Principal
Who you work with
Sean Cochrane
Founder & Principal Consultant
Sean has spent over thirty years making the internet work — literally from its public beginning. He built Utah's statewide education internet infrastructure in the early 1990s, designed petabyte-scale storage for Top 500 supercomputing sites at Sun Microsystems, held senior engineering leadership at Oracle and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, led the conversational-AI engineering team at AtlasRTX from early startup through its acquisition by NICE, and worked on enterprise generative-AI guardrails with Add Value Machine.
Today he leads General Internet Group's consulting practice across IT strategy, cloud architecture, data governance, and AI — and co-founded Genisage LLC, the firm's life-sciences compliance affiliate.

§ 03 · Operating principles
01Clarity
Straightforward advice in plain language. If a recommendation can't survive being explained simply, it isn't finished.
02Compliance
Security and regulation designed in from day one — because audit-ready by construction costs less than audit-ready by remediation.
03Confidence
Foundations built to scale without rework, documented so your team owns them after we leave.
§ 04 · Structure
How the entities fit together
Plain answers, because corporate structure shouldn't be a mystery.
